How to Stop Your Toddler Throwing Up

The last thing a parent wants is her toddler throwing up.  Some of them start to cough, then proceed to throw up, others stick their fingers too far down their own throats and throw up and others just puke!

If this happens more than once it can become very stressful and time consuming (cleaning up) for the parents and caregivers. Toddlers appear to do this when they are not getting enough attention, IE in the car, or when they are asked to do something they don't want to do, like going to bed.

Motorola

It may be best to take your child to the Dr to check that he doesn't have reflux or anything else that could make him vomit.

If the toddler is fine according to the Dr, then the best way to handle this is calmly. If its the fingers down the throat, as soon as you see fingers going into the mouth, calmly pull them out and say "don't put your fingers down your throat please".

If you can be vigilant and take action soon enough you will be able, in most cases, to avoid the vomit.

Is your toddler throwing up in bed? Then the first thing to do is to add a waterproof sheet over the bottom sheet and add a small draw sheet over the top. That way its easy to take off the drawsheet and waterproof and still have a clean sheet on the bed.

The next thing to do would be after he has thrown up, change the bed with out talking to him, lay him down and leave. This way he will realise that this doesn't get him extra attention and it also doesn't get him out of going to bed. Hopefully he will realise the tactic isn't working so he will stop doing it.

According to a Dr I was talking to, toddlers of this age find it very easy to throw up so don't be too concerned.

2 Ways Of Connecting To The Internet With The Samsung Galaxy Tab

If you have seen the Samsung Galaxy Tab, your initial reaction must be awe. You must be entranced with the sleek, slim, compact, and lightweight design. However, one of your concerns may be ways of connecting to the internet with this tablet. There are actually two ways to connect to the internet with the Tab. Here, you will find out more about the two ways to do so.

3G Internet Access

Motorola

With 3G internet access, you can connect to the internet wherever you are. Depending if you have 3G coverage in your area, you can enjoy 5.76 mbps or uploads and 7.2 mbps of downloads. This simply means that you can enjoy more with broadband internet.

With this much internet speed, there are so many things that you can do on the go. Checking your emails will be easy to do. Web browsing will be possible wherever you go. You can make use of instant messaging services from wherever. Video conferencing will be easy. Video streaming will be seamless. Uploading your multimedia on your favorite social network will be instant. Lastly, downloading anything from the internet will be lightning fast. Internet access on the go with the Samsung Galaxy Tab will be sheer pleasure.

Wi-Fi Internet Access

There will be instances when you do not have 3G coverage in an area, or you might want to connect to the internet in another way. In these cases, there is another way to connect with this compact tablet. You can make use of a wireless network through the tablet's Wi-Fi capabilities.

Setting this feature up is simple. If you have access to a home or office wireless network, you can easily connect to the internet. All you will need is the internet service provider and a wireless router. This will allow you to do anything from browsing, surfing, chatting, emailing, video streaming, downloading, and uploading via Wi-Fi.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab also allows you to access the internet via hot spots. These too are wireless networks. These hot spots can be found wherever you go. They can be found in the mall, cafés, restaurants, shops, and many more establishments. With these wireless networks offered, you are sure to gain another way to access the World Wide Web.

As you can see, there are two options you can make use of to access the web. You can use the device's 3G or Wi-Fi capabilities. These are the 2 ways of connecting to the internet with the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Best Tablet for 2012

The Motorola XOOM is a powerful tablet that offers nearly all the traditional features of a desktop PC, but it's in a 10.1 inch tablet that's just half an inch thick. I have the pleasure of supporting 3 of them at work right now. So far this would be my choice for Best Tablet 2012.

Who makes it: Motorola

Motorola

Price Range: 0-0 for wi-fi only version. 3G and 4G XOOM's can run as much as 0 depending on if you sign up for a 2 year data contract from a cellular provider. This review is on the Wi-Fi only version of the Motorola XOOM (which is all I've worked with so far).

Who's it for: This a hardcore tablet. It's got a lot of power and features. It's perfectly suited for home and corporate users who want the desktop experience right in the palm of their hand, however if you're just trying to browse the internet and read some ebooks there are more affordable tablets out there.

Motorola XOOM Hardware Features

The XOOM isn't playing around when it comes to hardware. It's beefy. Motorola popped in a dual core 1 ghz nVidia Tegra 2 processor, 1 GB of DDR2 Ram, 32 GB's of internal storage and a 10 hour battery (and that's 10 hours of actually using the tablet)! That's a lot of power for a tablet.

Motorola didn't skimp on wireless connectivity either. The XOOM comes with 802.11 N Wi-Fi and it also supports A, B and G signal types as well. Blue-tooth is also included so you'll be able to use accessories like headsets or even connect it to your hands-free blue-tooth system in your car (which is great for those turn by turn directions played via your car speakers).

The XOOM allows you to setup 5 "home screens". Each of these home screens can contain different applications and widgets. While this isn't a big deal in the corporate environment it does make sharing the XOOM at home with other people much easier. Speaking of widgets...you can add dozens of widgets on each home screen. These widgets are scrollable (for example you can scroll through emails on the email widget), stackable and now re-sizable!

Unlike the iPad, the XOOM completely supports Adobe Flash (v. 10.2), so you won't be limited to viewing just half of the sites on the Internet. You should know that flash content uses the battery almost twice as fast. So your 10 hours if internet browsing becomes 5 if you're on flash rich websites.

Multi-touch gestures are there too, for example, you can use 2 fingers to pinch zoom in and expand (zoom out) any website, picture or movie.

Email: You can add as many corporate or personal email accounts as you want. Our XOOM users here at work have Microsoft Exchange and gmail accounts configured on their XOOMs. So far it works perfectly.

XOOM is Multi-tasker. You can download music, files, watch a video or play a game all at the same time, there's no need to wait for something to finish. Tabbed web browsing is also available in the XOOM. It's just like your desktop.

The Android Market gives you access to hundreds of thousands of Apps, Games, Books and more. Some are free and some cost anywhere from - (usually). Now, with the new Android 3.2 release for the XOOM you can also rent movies directly from the Android Market (and these are new movies, as soon as they are released to DVD). Google apps and technologies are found throughout the XOOM (and they work flawlessly with the exception of Google Earth at this time). You can video and voice chat using Google talk (over a Wi-Fi connection) or pull up a 3D Google map and get spoken turn-by-turn directions if you're out walking or in your car.

The Evolution of Technology - The History of Computers

While computers are now an important part of the lives of human beings, there was a time where computers did not exist. Knowing the history of computers and how much progression has been made can help you understand just how complicated and innovative the creation of computers really is.

Unlike most devices, the computer is one of the few inventions that does not have one specific inventor. Throughout the development of the computer, many people have added their creations to the list required to make a computer work. Some of the inventions have been different types of computers, and some of them were parts required to allow computers to be developed further.

Motorola

The Beginning

Perhaps the most significant date in the history of computers is the year 1936. It was in this year that the first "computer" was developed. It was created by Konrad Zuse and dubbed the Z1 Computer. This computer stands as the first as it was the first system to be fully programmable. There were devices prior to this, but none had the computing power that sets it apart from other electronics.

It wasn't until 1942 that any business saw profit and opportunity in computers. This first company was called ABC computers, owned and operated by John Atanasoff and Clifford Berry. Two years later, the Harvard Mark I computer was developed, furthering the science of computing.

Over the course of the next few years, inventors all over the world began to search more into the study of computers, and how to improve upon them. Those next ten years say the introduction of the transistor, which would become a vital part of the inner workings of the computer, the ENIAC 1 computer, as well as many other types of systems. The ENIAC 1 is perhaps one of the most interesting, as it required 20,000 vacuum tubes to operate. It was a massive machine, and started the revolution to build smaller and faster computers.

The age of computers was forever altered by the introduction of International Business Machines, or IBM, into the computing industry in 1953. This company, over the course of computer history, has been a major player in the development of new systems and servers for public and private use. This introduction brought about the first real signs of competition within computing history, which helped to spur faster and better development of computers. Their first contribution was the IBM 701 EDPM Computer.

A Programming Language Evolves

A year later, the first successful high level programming language was created. This was a programming language not written in 'assembly' or binary, which are considered very low level languages. FORTRAN was written so that more people could begin to program computers easily.

The year 1955, the Bank of America, coupled with Stanford Research Institute and General Electric, saw the creation of the first computers for use in banks. The MICR, or Magnetic Ink Character Recognition, coupled with the actual computer, the ERMA, was a breakthrough for the banking industry. It wasn't until 1959 that the pair of systems were put into use in actual banks.

During 1958, one of the most important breakthroughs in computer history occurred, the creation of the integrated circuit. This device, also known as the chip, is one of the base requirements for modern computer systems. On every motherboard and card within a computer system, are many chips that contain information on what the boards and cards do. Without these chips, the systems as we know them today cannot function.

Gaming, Mice, & the Internet

For many computer users now, games are a vital part of the computing experience. 1962 saw the creation of the first computer game, which was created by Steve Russel and MIT, which was dubbed Spacewar.

The mouse, one of the most basic components of modern computers, was created in 1964 by Douglass Engelbart. It obtained its name from the "tail" leading out of the device.

One of the most important aspects of computers today was invented in 1969. ARPA net was the original Internet, which provided the foundation for the Internet that we know today. This development would result in the evolution of knowledge and business across the entire planet.

It wasn't until 1970 that Intel entered the scene with the first dynamic RAM chip, which resulted in an explosion of computer science innovation.

On the heels of the RAM chip was the first microprocessor, which was also designed by Intel. These two components, in addition to the chip developed in 1958, would number among the core components of modern computers.

A year later, the floppy disk was created, gaining its name from the flexibility of the storage unit. This was the first step in allowing most people to transfer bits of data between unconnected computers.

The first networking card was created in 1973, allowing data transfer between connected computers. This is similar to the Internet, but allows for the computers to connect without use of the Internet.

Household PC's Emerge

The next three years were very important for computers. This is when companies began to develop systems for the average consumer. The Scelbi, Mark-8 Altair, IBM 5100, Apple I and II, TRS-80, and the Commodore Pet computers were the forerunners in this area. While expensive, these machines started the trend for computers within common households.

One of the most major breathroughs in computer software occurred in 1978 with the release of the VisiCalc Spreadsheet program. All development costs were paid for within a two week period of time, which makes this one of the most successful programs in computer history.

1979 was perhaps one of the most important years for the home computer user. This is the year that WordStar, the first word processing program, was released to the public for sale. This drastically altered the usefulness of computers for the everyday user.

The IBM Home computer quickly helped revolutionize the consumer market in 1981, as it was affordable for home owners and standard consumers. 1981 also saw the the mega-giant Microsoft enter the scene with the MS-DOS operating system. This operating system utterly changed computing forever, as it was easy enough for everyone to learn.

The Competition Begins : Apple vs. Microsoft

Computers saw yet another vital change during the year of 1983. The Apple Lisa computer was the first with a graphical user interface, or a GUI. Most modern programs contain a GUI, which allows them to be easy to use and pleasing for the eyes. This marked the beginning of the out dating of most text based only programs.

Beyond this point in computer history, many changes and alterations have occurred, from the Apple-Microsoft wars, to the developing of microcomputers and a variety of computer breakthroughs that have become an accepted part of our daily lives. Without the initial first steps of computer history, none of this would have been possible.

The Best Selling Smartphones

Smartphones have been all over the news and chances are you know what smartphones are. You may only know that they are normal mobile phones that come under the specific name 'smartphone' with some added special features. Smartphones are mobile phones with mini-computer capabilities such as Internet searching capabilities and sending emails. But what is the main difference of smartphones from normal every day cell phones? A smartphone allows users to add additional programs to the phone such as downloading and installing different software and programs. The first smartphone was developed and introduced by IBM in 1992 and was named SIMON. It doesn`t have any physical buttons that you would actually use to dial or text. Consumers started using a touch screen to dial phone numbers and to access other functions of the phone.

There are many smartphones currently on the market. The best selling smartphone currently on the market is the Blackberry. According to market research the Blackberry was the best selling smartphone in the last quarter of the fiscal year. Blackberry Curve is the best smart phone collaborating with Reliance India Mobile and is more popular than an iPhone. The top and best selling smartphone of the year of 2010 is the Blackberry Bold 9700. It works as a powerful smartphone where one is able to do many types of messaging and web browsing tasks. It has a full QWERTY keypad that is touch-sensitive.

Motorola

According to the market report in 2009 the best selling smartphone was Apple. It is one of the best phones that comes with all options of an iPhone. This Apple iPhone is called smartphones. In comparing the Blackberry and Apple smartphones, both are very similar in what they are able to do but they also have their own separate advantages without significant differences between them. Apple iPhones are highly compact and are great for social networking. Apple has the second best selling handset being one of the top ten manufacturers with more than one handset.

Motorola is becoming the third best smartphone of the year and has become more popular in the smartphone market. Motorola`s best selling Android smartphone did not include their `blur` service that they have been trying to market. Google was able to dictate the choices of software for the Android in which they exchanged being the first handset maker to offer a phone with Android 2.0. Motorola is expected to participate in Google`s phone store, making the future of Motorola a mystery as to what products they will market next.

In the end, HTC and Samsung captured the market share respectively. The success of these two smartphones is directly attributed to the ease of use at a very low price. Many of the best selling smart phones have a QWERTY keypad or a touch screen. Smartphones are very helpful to those in the business especially for those who travel around the world for their job. Carrying a laptop is a bit difficult for them compared to a smartphone which is considerably large in relation to a mobile phone; the best thing is the smartphone has all the capabilities of a laptop. The touch screen smartphones have now become the most highly demanding mobile phone on the market.

10 Simple Steps for Fixing Your Cell Phone If It Gets Wet!

Who hasn't experienced the gut-wrenching sensation of seeing their cell phone fall in to the pool; or the sharp intake of breath when a cup of coffee is spilled over the phone!

What do you do (other than panic) when that happens?

Motorola

Look at the 10 suggested steps below - and maybe not all is lost after all.

1. First - and most important - get it out of the water!

2. Also urgent - remove the battery. Prevent any interactions FAST!

3. Remove your SIM card. All your vital information is here. Even if you don't rescue your phone, at least rescue your SIM card. For now, just put it to one side to dry out naturally.

4. Remove as much water as possible as quickly as possible. Just use an absorbent material (toweling or paper tissues)

5. An alternate drying technique is to seal the phone (with everything removed) in a plastic bag with a few of silica packs that you get with electronic goods etc. Leave the phone in the bag for a day or two, and it may be that the silica will absorb the moisture

6. Give time for the phone to dry. Don't experiment with putting the battery back on to see if it works as this would risk damaging the phone with a short circuit.

7. Be patient and wait. Yes - be patient! Let nature have its way; just leave it in a warm place and let the water evaporate.

8. Try replacing the battery if all else fails. They are not expensive and it may solve the problem

9. See if there is a loan phone available. That will also make the waiting process easier.

10. Test it out. After being patient for 3 days, make sure everything is clean and dry and re-attach the battery to the phone and see if it works. If your phone does not work, wait another few days. If it still won't work, try taking your cell phone to an authorized dealer. Sometimes they can fix it.

Other ideas

* Place it on top of the vent of a cable box, monitor or TV for at least 24 hours (up to 3 days). The low heat emitted is enough to gently dry out the phone.

* If your phone falls in to salt water (like the ocean for instance), remove the battery and rinse with fresh water before crystals can form.

* Consider soaking your phone in distilled water to wash away any minerals it picked up from the original water.

Be careful

* Do not under any circumstances heat the battery - it could leak or explode. Lithium-ion batteries are sensitive. If you use an oven or hairdryer, remove the battery first.

* If you use alcohol for the drying process, only do so to the outside, and do not apply heat in any way shape or form, not even the gentlest of heat. Do not connect the battery until the alcohol smell goes away

* And, if it's not stating the obvious, do not put the phone into the microwave. You will fry the components and probably ruin the microwave!
